ELD Integration
Connect your ELD per subsidiary with an API token, polling or webhooks.
Last Updated
FuelRouteX reads vehicles, GPS positions, fuel levels and engine state from Samsara. Each subsidiary has its own Samsara connection and API token, so companies under one account stay separate.
Before You Start
- You need permission to manage integrations in FuelRouteX (tenant admins have it by default).
- In Samsara, create an API token under Settings → API Tokens with these scopes:
- Read Vehicles
- Read Vehicle Statistics
- Know whether your Samsara account is in the US or EU region.
Connect a Subsidiary
- Open Settings → Integrations and choose the Samsara card for the subsidiary.
- Select the region (US or EU) and paste the API token.
- Save. FuelRouteX tests the token against Samsara before storing it. If Samsara rejects it, nothing is saved and you will see why.
Once connected, the status shows Active and the first sync begins. Tokens are encrypted when stored and are never shown again; the screen only displays the last four characters.
Sync Options
| Mode | What It Does |
|---|---|
| Polling (Every 20 Min) | FuelRouteX pulls vehicles, positions and fuel levels from Samsara about every 20 minutes. |
| Webhooks Only | Samsara pushes vehicle created and updated events to FuelRouteX. Samsara webhooks do not include GPS, so use Sync Now to refresh positions. |
Sync Now runs an immediate sync and can be used once a minute.
Setting Up Webhooks
- Copy the Webhook URL shown on the connection.
- In Samsara, create a webhook pointing to that URL for the VehicleCreated and VehicleUpdated events.
- Paste the webhook signing secret from Samsara into FuelRouteX and save.
Every event is checked against its signature and rejected if the signature is wrong or the event is more than 5 minutes old. Repeated events are processed once. Events for a paused or disconnected connection are ignored. The connection shows when the last event arrived.
Connection Status
- Not Connected: no token saved.
- Active: syncing normally.
- Paused: syncing stopped by a user. Resuming asks for a token.
- Error: the last sync failed. Check that the token is still valid in Samsara, then update it or use Sync Now.
Disconnecting
Disconnecting deletes the stored token and signing secret and stops syncing. Vehicles that were already imported stay in FuelRouteX so your history is kept.
Connecting, pausing, changing the sync option, updating the webhook secret and disconnecting are all recorded in the audit log.
