Savings

How the savings audit compares your real purchases against cheaper stations nearby.

Last Updated

The Savings page shows where buying at the cheapest nearby station would have lowered your fuel spend. It is built entirely from fuel purchases you import, so every number traces back to a real transaction.

Savings figures are modeled estimates of what you could have saved, based on your own purchase history. They are not a guarantee of future savings.

Which Purchases Count

The audit uses imported purchases with the fuel transaction type Truck Diesel and a Retail PPU (price per unit). Other products and rows without a price are left out. See Purchases Import.

How the Audit Works

  1. Purchases are grouped by location and calendar month (UTC). For each group, FuelRouteX takes the median price paid, the number of visits and the median gallons per fill.
  2. Each location is compared with the cheapest other location your fleet bought from in the same state and month.
  3. The opportunity is the price gap multiplied by the median gallons per fill. Only positive results are listed.

Detour cost and IFTA effects are not included in the current calculation, so each opportunity is the straight price difference on a typical fill.

Confidence Ratings

Each opportunity is rated by how much evidence shows your trucks could realistically have used the cheaper station. Route evidence means the same truck bought at both locations back to back, in the same state and month, no more than 7 days apart.

RatingWhen It Applies
HighAt least two route-evidence observations across at least two vehicles
MediumAny route evidence, or at least one truck bought at both locations and each location had two or more visits
